Study Library

This is where the Bible study material lives.

The point of this section is simple. We want you able to open the Bible and understand it yourself. Not to take our word for it. Not to depend on us or on anybody else standing behind a pulpit. To read it, understand it, and check what you're being told against it.

Everything in here is free and everything is built to be used, not just read.

How to Study the Bible

The method section. How to read a passage in context, how to figure out what a word actually means, how to tell the difference between what a verse says and what somebody told you it says.

If you're new to the Bible or you've been reading it for years without much confidence, start here.

In progress. This is the next thing being built.

Passage Studies

One passage at a time, worked through carefully. Context, what the words mean, what the writer was actually arguing, and what it means for you.

We go after the hard passages on purpose. If a text looks like it argues against something we believe, you'll find it here with an honest answer instead of a dodge.

In progress.

Book Studies

Whole books of the Bible, start to finish. Who wrote it, who it was written to, what problem it was answering, and how the argument runs from beginning to end.

Reading a book straight through the way it was written is one of the most useful things a Christian can do, and almost nobody teaches people how.

In progress.

Word Studies

Key words in the Bible, examined in their original languages and in how Scripture actually uses them. Repentance. Faith. Grace. Justification. Redemption.

A lot of confusion about salvation comes down to people using the same word to mean different things. These studies show you what the Bible means by them.

In progress.

Bible Doctrine

What the Bible teaches about God, about Christ, about the Holy Spirit, about man and sin, about the church, and about what's coming.

Plain explanations with the passages laid out so you can check the work.

In progress.

What's here now

This library is new and it's mostly empty. One person writes it in the hours around a job and two young sons, so it grows slowly.

What exists so far:

  • [Does Baptism Save You? →]
  • [What Is the Gospel? →]

More is coming. There's an email option at the bottom of any page if you want to know when.

How this library gets built

We're building the foundation first. Salvation, assurance, and how to study the Bible come before everything else, because those are the questions people are actually stuck on and because everything else depends on them.

That means some things you might expect to find here won't show up for a while. That's on purpose, not neglect.

If there's a question you keep running into and nobody's answering it plainly, tell me. Ken@livingswordministries.org. That's how I decide what to write next.
