About

What this is

Living Sword Ministries exists to do two things.

Give people a straight answer about the gospel. Not a version of it with conditions attached, not a sales pitch, not a message so softened it doesn't say anything. The actual gospel. Jesus Christ died for our sins, shed His blood in our place, was buried, and rose again, and salvation is a gift you receive by faith in Him.

Teach people to read the Bible for themselves. So you aren't dependent on a man behind a pulpit to tell you what God says. So when you hear something taught, you can open the Bible and check it.

That's it. Everything published here serves one of those two purposes.

Why this exists

There are a lot of people sitting in churches right now who couldn't tell you what the gospel is.

It isn't because they don't want to know. It isn't because they haven't been going long enough. It's because nobody ever told them plainly. They've heard about being a good person. They've heard about giving, serving, joining, committing, and trying harder. Somewhere underneath all of it, the actual message, that Christ died for our sins and was buried and rose again, either never got said or got buried so deep it never landed.

And there are people outside of church carrying real fear about death and judgment who have never once been given a clear answer to it.

That's the gap this ministry exists to fill. Not to be clever, not to be original, and not to build a following. Just to say the thing plainly and often, and to help people find it in the Bible for themselves.

How this ministry works

The answer to bad teaching isn't outrage. It's the Bible.

If somebody reads a book of the Bible carefully and understands what it actually says, most of what's wrong becomes obvious without anybody having to point at it. That's why the material here is mostly Scripture explained instead of a running commentary on other people's errors. When a teaching needs to be addressed, we address the teaching, not the person teaching it.

We also try to deal honestly with hard passages instead of avoiding them. If a verse looks like it argues against a position held here, you'll find it quoted and dealt with instead of skipped.

Everything on this site is free. There's nothing behind a paywall, and there's no giving mechanism on this site. That's on purpose.

What you should know

My name is Kennedy, and I'm the founder of Living Sword Ministries. Right now I'm the only person here.

I'm not a pastor and I'm not claiming to be one. This isn't a church, and I'm not asking anybody to submit to my authority. I'm a relatively new believer, and I'd rather say that plainly than have somebody assume otherwise. It's part of why what you'll find here is Scripture explained instead of a personality to follow. I'd rather point you to the Bible than have you take my word for anything.

I have a job, a family, and two young sons. This ministry is what I do in the hours around them, which means it moves slowly. I'd rather publish one careful thing than a pile of sloppy material.

If I get something wrong, tell me. I'd rather be corrected than be confidently wrong in public. That isn't just something to say. It's why the email address is on every page.

What we believe

The short version: salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. The Bible is the authority. Not tradition, not denominational teaching, not any man's opinion, including mine.

Where this is going

Honestly, I don't fully know yet, and I'd rather say that than pretend to a plan I haven't lived into.

Right now this is articles and resources. Over time I hope it becomes a place people can send somebody when that person has questions nobody around them will answer plainly.

What exists today is what you see. That's enough to start.

Getting in touch

Questions, disagreements, or something you think I've gotten wrong: Ken@livingswordministries.org

I read everything that comes in. I'm one person doing this alongside a job and a family, so replies aren't instant, but I'll do my best to point you to Scripture.
